"the World’s Loneliest Bookstore: Shantih Shantih Shantih" (Hong Kong Edition)
Presenting the new work of Singaporean author Daryl Qilin Yam
Following its success in Singapore last year, cultural curator Scentory is creating a local extension of BooksActually's popular exhibition, “the World’s Loneliest Bookstore”, celebrating the launch of “Shantih Shantih Shantih”, the latest book by established author Daryl Qilin Yam (published by Math Paper Press).
Broaching the subjects of love and loss, serendipities and mishaps, Daryl has created a near-apocalyptic day in “Shantih Shantih Shantih”, where we see snow fall in Singapore and the lives of 12 seemingly unrelated people intertwine.
With this in mind, we have curated “The World’s Loneliest Bookstore: Shantih Shantih Shantih” (Hong Kong edition), a snowscape that weaves together words and scents, visual art and music, including:
- We will present our latest scent concoction during this exhibition, the ‘Scent of Snow’, an essential oil blend that opens up hundreds of scent combinations for our readers to complement a life-size installation of Daryl’s book.
- Also featured are new works by local printmaker/visual artist, Nicolas Ho, who took his inspiration from “Shantih Shantih Shantih” and created a series of pastel drawings.
- For a more immersive experience, we have also invited singer-songwriter/music composer, Olivier Cong, to create a music piece, featuring Daryl’s reading, as the exhibition’s soundtrack.

香言策展「The World’s Loneliest Bookstore（香港站）」
介紹新加坡作家阮麒霖新作《Shantih Shantih Shantih》
文化藝術策劃品牌香言一直致力帶來不一樣的獨特閱讀體驗，將與星加坡獨立書店BooksActually聯合舉辦 「the World’s Loneliest Bookstore」展覽，介紹新晉作家阮麒霖(Daryl Qilin Yam)的最新短篇小說 《Shantih Shantih Shantih》（由星加坡獨立出版社Math Paper Press出版）。
《Shantih Shantih Shantih》在梵文中意味著「內在的平安」 ，然而這書卻是用著末日的調子， 訴說在新加坡一個下雪的日子， 十二個人和他們的生活如何相互相連的故事。跟他們走過這個雪日， 我們在片斷與片斷之間，見驗到他們的生活， 鑽探般深深挖掘他們的愛與失、相遇與錯過。
我們這次藉著阮氏推出新作策劃「The World’s Loneliest Bookstore: Shantih Shantih Shantih（香港站）」更特地為這次創製雪景，揉入文字、氣味、視覺藝術和音樂等元素，在香港這無雪之地呈現一個如臨在的空間讓讀者盡情探索，包括：
- 由香言設計之「雪之華」，每⼀種香氣精油象徵著書中的⼀個故事，讓⼤家能以香伴讀
- 本地板畫藝術家 Nicolas Ho 一系列畫作，以影像演繹文字的神韻
- 現場播放由⾳樂創作⼈江逸天（Olivier Cong）創作的空靈調子，加入阮氏的誦讀，為展覽增添感官層次
- 特意營造雪景空間，隨讀者感受書中意境

「回家」影像展： 一場想像與文字的對話
由去年「反送中」運動開始到今年初爆發疫症，香港經歷了多場歷史性的巨變：除了徹底顛覆我們的思考模式，更逼使我們回歸內心，重新審視「家」的本質。2019年，香言有幸邀請到本地作家韓麗珠合作，以她的作品《回家》為藍本，創作「家的氣味」蠟燭。創作期間，韓的文字除了為我們敞開了想像的大門，更帶來前所未有的鄉愁：心思從宏觀的社會議題回到了自家的「根」。是次影像展，正是我們更深層的回應。
「回家」影像展邀請了三位來自香港的年輕攝影師，以影像回應韓麗珠的文字，進一步反思人與家的連結，並紀錄了面對動盪日常的心情狀態。攝影師鄧詩廷（Stephanie Teng）、楊文軒（Kris Yeung）、AM Renault 從日常物件着手探索人與家之間的關係，不帶一點批判，以直白的影像呈現感性面貌，希望能誘發觀眾思考自身與家以及我城的連結，放任想像。
韓麗珠在《回家》裏提到：「一個怎樣的人，就會住進怎樣的房子，假若企圖改變房子，就不得不先把自己重建。」希望展覽能為你提供一個讓身心靜下來的空間，在動盪的日子中嘗試內觀，來一場與自己對話。

失眠約會：深夜音樂會（香港站）
有些感覺，只有失眠的人才懂。香言請來首位被Apple Music 選入「new artist spotlight」的香港音樂人江逸天Olivier Cong以虛空而沉鬱的音樂，與睡不著的你來一場失眠約會——呷一口草本好眠茶，在 Dream Awhile 的好眠香氣下，忘卻白日的煩囂，享受黑夜的片刻靜謐，醞釀睡意。
